FREF (Florida Retired Educator Association Foundation) gives 1 $1000.00 Grant yearly to a practicing educator to pay for a project in their classroom for the upcoming year.
In addition to the FREF Grant, there are two former FREA Presidents, Marie Grein and Pamela Schwartz, who each funded Practicing Educator Grants to be given on alternating years. This allows for two Practicing Educator Grants, for $1000.00 each, to be given each year.
The Marie Grein Practicing Educator Grant:
Marie created this grant during her tenure as FREA Treasurer. She served as FREA President from 2008-2010, FREA Treasurer, District Director, Convention Coordinator, Nominating Chair, and numerous offices in her unit, North Pinellas REA.
The Schwartz Family Practicing Educator Grant:
Pamela served as FREA President in 201-2020, as FREF Trustee, and various offices in her local Unit of Escambia CREA.
