Kayce Hawkins — Hernando County School Board, District 2
Kayce Hawkins has called Hernando County home for 18 years and proudly represents District 2 on the Hernando County School Board, where she currently serves as Board Chair. A wife and mother of three, Kayce brings to the Board the combined perspective of an educator, parent, business owner, and longtime community advocate.
Before joining the School Board, Kayce served as a highly effective teacher in Hernando County Schools, teaching in Title I, low-performing, and high-performing schools. She holds both a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Armstrong Atlantic State University, as well as an Associate of Science from the College of Coastal Georgia. Her classroom experience continues to shape her approach to leadership and her understanding of the needs of students, families, teachers, and staff.
During her two years of service on the School Board, Kayce has been a strong advocate for student achievement, safe and supportive schools, educational opportunities, fiscal responsibility, transparency, and accountability. As Chair, she believes effective leadership means listening, asking tough questions, working collaboratively, and never losing sight of how decisions made at the Board level impact the classroom.
Outside of public education, Kayce co-owns two businesses with her husband and has spent years serving local schools, churches, nonprofits, and community organizations. She previously served as President of the Hernando County Association of Business Partners and has supported organizations including Jericho Road Ministries, Habitat for Humanity, Operation HeartFelt, The Ability Tree, and Friends of Weeki Wachee.
For Kayce, serving on the School Board is more than a position it is an opportunity to give back to the community her family calls home. She remains committed to putting students first, supporting those who serve them, being a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.
