Tammy Brinker, HCEF CEO
Tammy Brinker | Chief Executive Officer
Tammy Brinker serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Hernando County Education Foundation (HCEF), where she has spent more than a decade transforming community support into meaningful opportunities for Hernando County students and educators. With more than 30 years of nonprofit leadership experience, Tammy has built her career around one guiding belief: when a community invests in education, it invests in its own future.
Under Tammy’s leadership, HCEF has experienced significant growth in both its reach and impact, expanding programs, developing new community partnerships, and increasing resources available to local schools. Throughout her nonprofit career, she has helped raise more than $50 million to support children, families, educators, and communities.
Tammy is passionate about creating opportunities that go beyond traditional classroom learning. Her leadership has helped advance initiatives supporting teacher innovation and recognition, classroom resources, scholarships, mentoring, college and career readiness, STEM and workforce development, literacy, and hands-on learning experiences. She believes some of the most powerful educational opportunities happen when students can connect what they are learning today with what they might become tomorrow.
At the heart of Tammy’s leadership is partnership. She has developed strong relationships with businesses, foundations, civic organizations, educators, community leaders, and individual donors who share HCEF’s commitment to public education. She believes the Foundation’s role is not simply to raise funds, but to bring people together around opportunities that can change the trajectory of a student’s life.
Tammy is a Certified Education Foundation Leader through the National Association of Education Foundations and a recognized trainer and presenter who has shared her expertise at state and national conferences. Her areas of expertise include nonprofit leadership, fundraising, organizational development, strategic partnerships, and building sustainable, high-impact education programs. She studied Business Management and Child Psychology at Missouri State University and brings a global perspective to her work from her experience living in Japan and teaching English.
Originally from Missouri, Tammy has called Florida home for more than two decades. Outside of HCEF, she treasures time with her family and grandchildren and is happiest near the water.
For Tammy, the work is personal. Every classroom strengthened, every educator supported, and every opportunity created for a student represents what is possible when a community comes together with purpose. Her vision for HCEF remains focused on what comes next—building innovative partnerships, expanding opportunities, and ensuring Hernando County students and educators have the resources, experiences, and support they need to thrive.
